About Me
My name is Marissa Ruiz. I grew up in south Florida and attended Wellington High School, where I was able to spend all four years participating in some of the best high school choirs in the state. I then moved to southwest Florida to attend Florida Gulf Coast University where I earned a Bachelor's degree in Music Education with a Choral Emphasis (2023). I travelled all throughout high school and colleges performing concerts in places like Lincoln Center, La Sagrada Familia, Santa Maria de Montserrat Abbey, and other amazing places.
During high school, I always challenged myself to become better vocally by taking vocal lessons myself in preparation for the many choral event auditions available to Florida students. I have now taken students as a music educator myself to many of these events, or produced a musical where I was helping them prepare vocally beforehand. In taking on the individual coaching role, I found a love! I would love to help you achieve your current singing goal and transform you into the talented singer everyone can be. Anyone can sing, no matter your age or where you're from! Whether you are preparing for a theater or college audition, or you just want to better yourself as a musician- I can help get you there. If you reach out for you or your child, I can help you reach your goal. Vocal coaches typically focus more on style and stage presence, while a vocal teacher will help you with the foundations and techniques- I am here to provide both! I have learned from seasoned professors and world-class vocal coaches and currently teach middle school choir locally at the Somerset Mid-High Academy in Port St. Lucie. In my spare time I enjoy playing video games with my husband or entertaining my cats- which in turn entertains me! I adore my students at school and they call me Mrs. Ru, which has become my all-time favorite nickname. I love listening to Aurora, Linkin Park, The Eagles, or Queen- Queen is my favorite, and I even have a tattoo of one of my favorite songs of theirs. I enjoy spending my weekends with family in town or down south, or relaxing from a busy week at school with my husband.
